While working for WorldDealer, I was the principle designer in our template redevelopment process, moving us from static websites (and some still in Flash!) to modern styled sites utilizing mobile responsiveness. We were one of the first automotive specific advertising agencies to roll out responsive design templates to all of our dealers and we did so at no additional cost because it was the right thing to do.
Starting in 2013, we began with the simple process of rebuilding our sites into a responsive framework and adapting new search and SEO techniques. In the second wave, we introduced more template and custom options, enhanced search features, and new search results pages that gave a more diverse user experience. Our last iteration was by far the biggest departer from what was a standard look. By 2016/2017 dealers were getting away from boxy designs that felt stale and safe. Instead they were full embracing CSS transitions and animations and the world of parallax design – sometimes to their detriment. While these designs performed on par, the biggest change was to our search results pages (SRP). After research, I created an SRP that enhanced lead generation and conversion by nearly 70% for our dealers.
