Someone once told me this Valentine's Day sales even logo felt like a boy band. I'm not mad about that.

Automotive Sales Event Logos
For a while, we Streamers were asked to create sales event logos that were reminiscent of movie titles. This was one of those logos. Is it Mission Impossible? Is it James Bond? Is it something else? At this point, I don't really remember.

Automotive Sales Event Logos
Sports inspired sales event logo. I think this was first used around the Superbowl, but made a comeback later in the year for the World Series.

Automotive Sales Event Logos
Another "out of the box winner" logo. The 3D effect was hand created in Illustrator without using any of Adobe's 3D tools.

Autoppraisal V1
The Kelly Automotive Group was pitched with retooling their Risk Free trade pricing program, and part of that was new logos and branding. The intention of this logo was something clean, flat and flexible to work well with any of their brand roof tops. The colors were to reflect confidence, trust, and money or finance. In the icon there is a subtle symbolism. The blue is sky, while the green is land. The line swooping through the A harkens to the open road. The shield calls to the confidence, protection, and guarantee of the trade values provided.

Autoppraisal V2
In this second version of the Autoppraisal logo, I retained the greens and blues but gave them more depth and presented them in a dynamic check mark icon, that gives a subtle 3D feel. The text is highlighted by a customized version of a heavy sporty script, making is unique in a world of simple, clean sans serif fonts. The check mark shape is strategically chosen for its representation of confidence, security, and assurance.

Bedrock Bioscience
Bedrock Bioscience needed a logo that was fresh, clean, and modern. They wanted to use shades of blue that represented cool, calm, and professional. They also requested the logo be flexible, wanting to be able to have an icon mark that would stand alone as a secondary identifiable brand representation.

Bundle Monster
At the height of the loot box craze, Bundle Monster positioned themselves as a packaging and kitting company, aiming to assist loot box companies distribute their boxes. The request was pretty specific, wanting something on the lines of Monster’s Inc. juggling boxes. To keep the logo unique and memorable while providing ultimate flexibility of use, I integrated monster eyes into the wordmark, allowing for recognition in lock up, the character on its own, or wordmark on its own.

Butler's Cabin Bar & Grill
Peake Hospitality was in need of a logo for their new restaurant endeavor. They wanted a logo that was simple with elements that evoked feelings of outdoors and the north woods while fitting with the area the golf course is located in. The color scheme was a deep red and black, taking inspiration from buffalo plaid. Further design elements would lean into these rich colors paired with wood tones and textures. The eagle icon was produced from a photo of a bald eagle soaring over one of the fairways.

CarSnap
Before there was Carvana and the like, Stuckey Automotive approached our team at WorldDealer to help them expand their selling footprint by simplifying the buying process. While at the time – around 2013 – fully online car buying was not a thing. With this program, customers could do online reserves and down payments, with the goal of eventually spinning this into full online auto sales. Through that, CarSnap was born, and eventually pitched to other dealerships in the WorldDealer portfolio. This is the primary logo that was used and pitched to dealers. Shown in a deep red and charcoal gray, it was easily modified to meet other brand needs such as Ford or Honda blue, or Nissan magenta.

CBD Holistics
Simple logo for a retail store specializing in CBD and holistic healing practices. The logo takes inspiration from both the lotus flower – a symbol of beauty, purity, and enlightenment – and the cannabis leaf. The colors are cool and calming, while the overlay ombre effect gives a feeling of drawing one in.

Clayton Construction
Clayton Construction was looking for a logo that would convey they are home and small commercial building experts. Someone you can count on morning, noon, and night for all your construction projects. With that in mind, I came up with this multi-blue tone logo that, as it moves from white to steel blue and then into navy, it feels like the sun is setting and light is moving across the building icon. The design of the icon is posed in a way that it feels both like a residential home and commercial building and can be used alone, or in lock-up with the wordmark.

Cloud Copilot
In the early days of cloud storage tech, Cloud Copilot reached out for a logo that was fun and inspired by aviation and sports. Taking inspiration from aviation history, the tails on the top of the C are meant to feel like a pilot’s scarf floating in the wind. The integrated cloud icon is easily transformed into a secondary mark, lending brand placement extension.

Country Roads Trust
Country Roads Trust was the NIL extension of West Virginia University. When the NIL formed, they contracted Wheelhouse Creative, LLC to handle their branding, website, and other marketing needs. About 2 years ago, they requested a rebrand, initially just for promotional swag and give aways, but they liked it so much they took it on as their full brand.
The branding brief was to keep it in vein of their existing logo – WVU blue & gold, incorporate the trees and or mountains – but overall update to something that felt more like a sports logo. They wanted bolder fonts and something that would really jump out.

District Ice Cream
A small Canadian ice cream company wanted a bold logo for their new shop that had a modern yet retro vibe. After researching vintage ice cream parlor imagery and advertising, I chose a medium weight modern serif font that makes this eye catching and distinct but also feels nostalgic.

Eleven Oaks Farm
This family thoroughbred horse farm wanted a new logo to be able to put on apparel and other branded items related to the farm business. The logo needed to feature the rolling hills of Western PA, a pin oak leaf prent on the farm, and a profile of one of their horses.

Eliksa Therapeutics
Elika Therapeutics, a biotech company, wanted a new logo that really focused on the biology. At the time, they were developing stem cell and other bio therapies, which is where I got the inspiration for the double helix-ish icon. They also wanted a modern, bold brandmark but not one that was a run-of-the-mill stock font. Taking Source Code Pro, I modified it slightly to be unique, but still useable primary font in their branding package.

Epic Beer Fest
A small-town beer festival wanted an iconic logo they could use for both general branding and cool swag. This concept takes the E and makes it look like the bottom of a tipping beer mug and anchors it to the wordmark in frothy beer bubbles. The gold color used is similar to a pilsner and is simultaneously warm while being bright and readable on a variety of substrates (except maybe beer).

Fast Puck Game
A small company needed branding for the box of their desktop hockey concept game. After much back and forth, they settled on the name Fast Puck. They wanted a logo that conveyed movement and was bright and bold, leaning into the sports world. Taking inspiration from other boardgames on the market and the sports industry as requested, I incorporated bright colors, gradients, and modified a block font to give movement and depth.

Ignite Golf
Ignite Golf, company featuring professional golf coaches and golf simulators, wanted a logo that conveyed fire, was bold and bright, and cross functional. The log features a gradient flame surrounding and pulling up off a subtle golf ball texture.. The two-tone, double weight wordmark works independently or in lock-up with the icon.

K-12 AI
As part of the Wheelhouse team, I was the point person on the branding design for K-12 AI (stylized as K12AI). The company ran teacher training seminars about the effective implementation, use, and ethics of AI in education. The concept was to incorporate a tech element, but also make it relate to education in some way. For this, I used iconography that was reminiscent of data connections, but arranged them to look like a person with their hands up cheering.

Liquid Bean Espresso Bar
Liquid Bean coffee shop requested a logo that leaned into the liquid in their name but they didn’t want anything that was like a coffee stain (eg. Cafe 1925 and True Addict). For the typography, they wanted a serif that felt high end but not pretentious. The color palette features two rich, deep brown colors. The medium brown feels like a fresh poured, frothy latte while the dark chocolate brings in notes of dark roasted beans. You can almost smell this logo!

Made By Mike
Sometimes logo requests come in groups. This logo was the second request I received in a short time for a woodworker. Surprisingly, they don’t know each other and the timing was a complete coincidence. Anyway, Mike wanted a monogram style logo that really conveyed wood and would be able to be used as a stencil and possibly turned into a embossing iron. The trick was to keep the grain lines bold enough to be seen and understood no matter how it was produced without being overwhelming to the design.

Promethius Consulting
Promethius is a structural engineering firm. Their logo was to be bold, strong, and something that felt it could withstand anything. Utilizing a shield and roman columns, the icon conveys feelings related to size, strength, trustworthy. The navy blue juxtaposed to a Vegas gold feels confident and in control

Rock & Joe Coffee Bar
Rock & Joe is a unique concept that I wish I had worked with for more than this logo. They were a multi-use venue functioning as a coffee house during the day and a music venue at night. The front of the building had a round sign that they wanted to repurpose with as little changes as possible to keep costs down. The also requested non-traditional coffee shop colors. Thus, the concept for Rock & Joe was born. Sadly, they no longer use this logo, but I still like it.

Rocket Zeal
Sometimes a client throws you for a loop. In this case, Rocket Zeal – a home inspection company – requested a logo that had nothing to do with homes, inspections, or real estate. The prevailing thought was they were hoping for either connection or confusion with Rocket Mortgage. They wanted something fun with bold and bright colors. We went through several color variations before landing on navy and orange.

Showsparker.com
Showsparker was an upstart ticket re-seller and events promoter, with a bid-to-win concept. They intended to compete with the likes of Bands in Town and Seat Geek and wanted a logo that would be modern, flat, and easily recognized. The iconography chosen here is intended to represent both a mobile device and a ticket.
Now, you may be asking why a flame when it’s called Showsparker. Don’t worry, I asked the same thing! The reasoning was that a spark causes a flame and they hoped that their idea would “catch fire” in the ticketing space. The box is designed to look both like a ticket and a phone.

Today Tomorrow Oglebay
Known as the people’s park, Oglebay set out to create a more sustainable environment. To follow through with that initiative I was the lead creative in establishing the naming, branding, and implementation of the Today, Tomorrow, Oglebay campaign in accordance with existing Oglebay brand standards.
The logo design features the Oglebay tree icon with a surround text. Round logos generally make for flexible, muti-use logos, and this is no different. The text is Oglebay’s approved Gibson font in two weights, which makes it clean, clear, and easy to read from a distance.

True Coffee Addict
A proposed self-contained logo for a coffee review blog. I personally preferred this in an orange and brown scheme because it was warm, but this blue and aqua is what the client preferred.

Union Hockey League - Conway Yetis
Avalanche inspired yeti logo. I'm not sure if this team ever took the ice.

Union Hockey League - New Jersey Apollos
Fun hockey playing astronaut logo. The location of this team changed several times, even after the hand off of the final approved logo. Of all of them, this was one of my favorites to design.

Union Hockey League - St. Louis Wranglers
Not much direction was provided for this, outside of some images cobbled together from Google and that they wanted it to be "rustic modern." This is another team that I don't think ever took the ice.

Union Hockey League - Norwich Whalers
I was requested to take an existing logo and modify it into something new and updated. This take on an orca was one of the other top three favorite designs of the pack.

Union Hockey League - Norwich Whalers
Secondary monogram whale tail logo to go with the primary Norwhich whale logo.

Union Hockey League - Canton Mallards
Mallard logo for the Canton Mallards, which would move two or three more times before taking the ice.

Union Hockey League - Canton Mallards
Tertiary C logo. This worked until they were no longer in Canton.

Union Hockey League - Chicago Mammoths
The owner of the league was adamant that he wanted to rip off the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse logo. I was adamant that was not the right way to go. Somewhere in the middle came this logo. It's still in use (with some minor changes) as the Midwest Mammoths.

Union Hockey League - Soo Nordiques
Bear with fleur de lis logo for the Soo Nordiques. As far as I'm aware, this logo is still in use.

Union Hockey League - Holyoke Papermen
I was provided a sketch and MS paint version of this logo and asked to clean it up and make it look professional. I unified the text, defined the color palette, and generally cleaned up the design to be professional. This logo is still in use.

Union Hockey League - Cincinnati Pilots
Cincinnati, a river city, requested something that aligned with that heritage. This logo incorporates a hockey stick wielding tug boat pilot, a pilot wheel accent, and a bold color palette. This team never took the ice.

Union Hockey League - West Michigan Sentinels
I don't hate this logo. I don't love it either. the request was to modify the iconic Islanders fisherman logo to fit more with a turn of the century lighthouse keeper (a sentinel). This team is still called the sentinels, but stumbled their way into a new logo (that I unfortunately didn't get to design) that is more synonymous with the name.

Union Hockey League - Hudson Valley Vipers
Another logo in which I was provided concepts and ideas from Google to cobble together into something magical. The coiled viper anchors the text in this logo, and gives it a dramatic flair. This team still exists and is still using this logo.

Union Hockey League - New Hampshire Loggers
Simple lumberjack logo for a team based out of New Hampshire. There were other logos to be designed around this, but the team folded before we even got approval on this one. Oh the possibilities!

Union Hockey League - Sun Prairie Killer Bees
My third favorite of the bunch. This one I was given a lot of freedom of design, colors, and textures. This team is still in existence and using this logo.

Union Hockey League - Boston Gold Kings
This primary logo for the Gold Kings has always pained me. I love how the lion head turned out, but sometimes the designer loses the argument on best uses and practices. The team GM really wanted a fine serif font and the shift in the top lines always felt weird to me.

Union Hockey League - Motor City Generals
Another team that never made it off the ground. The concept was to have a general breaking through the jersey or ice.

Union Hockey League - Philadelphia Frozen Fury
The Frozen Fury concept was a Viking. Initially, I was asked to look heavily at the Minnesota Vikings logo. Instead, I shifted the concept to lean more into Leif Eriksson and other Viking iconography to come up with this Viking design. Ultimately, this team changed locations and names a few times and I believe no longer exists.

Union Hockey League - Niagara Falls Buffalos
Is it buffalos or buffaloes? I lean toward the -oes version, but the GM said they were the -os version. Originally, this was presented without the crest behind, but the powers that be wanted it to be anchored to something.

Union Hockey League - Niagara Falls Buffalos
The stand alone charging buffalo logo. More the way it was initially intended!

Union Hockey League - Hudson Valley Vipers
Vipers entering the ice with the primary logo on their jerseys and shells.

Wheeling Park Cafe 1925
As part of the Wheeling Park White Palace renovation, the park opened an area to function as a coffee shop and daily gathering spot for everyone that enjoys the park’s amenities. This became Cafe 1925. The concept was to incorporate elements of the parks branding, like the leaf in the mug. They also wanted something that felt unified and could function well as a standalone logo away from the park branding. Taking inspiration from other coffee shop logos, the Cafe 1925 logo came to life.
